Stillness
“We have lost the ability to be still and or even know what it is.
That stillness is within – it is in your inner-most.”

That stillness is within – it is in your inner-most.”

Beyond the outer appearance and physical structure of our body far more is taking place than the eyes alone can see. From the production of hormones, blood cells and micronutrients to the development of a child in utero, the human body is a feat of engineering that surpasses any man-made creation. When we consider that each and every part of our body is designed to harmoniously work together in union, we are given a glimpse of the sheer magnificence that our body represents.
What the eyes cannot see is energy – yet there is energy everywhere. From tidal energy, the gravitational effect of the moon on the world’s oceans, to emotional energy such as anger or sadness that can be felt but not seen, energy is behind every part of life. There is a movement of energy occurring in every moment of every day through our body. This energetic factor is often the missing element in understanding our body; our feelings, well-being and the cause of illness and dis-ease. Well before we feel any physical symptom, illness or dis-ease, we could say that the movement or flow of energy within our body has changed. When a disharmony is felt or experienced, such as a headache or pain, it is asking us to consider the quality of energy that is running through our body. The awareness of these more subtle and finer energetic aspects of life can be easily overlooked, dismissed or ignored, however it doesn’t discount the fact that it is always taking place. Stillness is the harmonious flow or movement of energy in and through our body. While we may not be familiar with stillness, it is our most natural quality. We could say that our body is designed to run on stillness, much like a vehicle is designed to run on fuel. When we have the right fuel, everything runs smoothly and harmoniously.

In re-familiarising ourselves with stillness we bring our awareness back to our body and sensitivity to establish a foundation and awareness that will truly support us in every aspect of our life.
What this is asking us to consider is a connection with ourselves that allows us to know and feel the quality of energy flowing through our body.
Many have become accustomed and familiar with a feeling of stress, anxiety, disharmony or tension that this is now accepted as a normal way of being and living. Stillness, on the other hand, reminds us that there is a deeply beautiful, timeless, spacious and rejuvenating quality that can be felt inside of us, appreciated and lived.
When we re-connect with stillness we re-introduce an age-old way of being and living in harmony with ourselves and with all others. Stillness is a quality of energy that our body knows and loves as it is our most natural and harmonious way of being. Stillness forever lives within us and our relationship with stillness can be built like any other relationship – slowly and steadily.
In stillness there is no doubt that we are so much more
than our physical bodies. |
